Nastapilo to po malej krytyce ze strony mojego siostrzenca, ze ostatnio na blogu bylo tylko jedno nowe zdjecie jego cioci (tak przynajmniej przekazala mi moja Mama ;-)) Jako ze w listopadzie byly moje urodziny, to Tomi bedzie mial tam sporo moich zdjec, a ja bede pamietac, by na przyszlosc sie poprawic i wrzucic czasem tez swoje zdjecia, by uszczesliwic tego malego mezczyzne ;-)

Kwiecien tutaj to tez Swieta Wielkanocne z polskim sniadaniem: byl polski majonez, chrzan, salatka jarzynowa, salatka z porow, biale kielbaski, ogorki kiszone, szynka, jajka i domowej roboty sos tatarski :-)
I Smigusem Dyngusem w poniedzialek ;-) Moja nauczanie polskich zwyczajow "zemscilo" sie na mnie ;-) Wybralismy sie takze do Wollongong podazajac trasa Grand Pacific Drive oraz zobaczyc Kiama Blowhole (gejzer wyrzucajacy w powietrze wode z oceanu).

Z ciekawostek:
25 kwietnia - Anzac Day, czyli taki tutejszy dzien pamieci, po tych, ktorzy zgineli w czasie Pierwszej Wojny Swiatowej z Gallipoli (Turcja). Pierwsza fala ANZAC (zolnierzy australijskich i nowozelandzkich) rozpoczela inwazje tuz przed switem o 4.28, 25 kwietnia, jednan akcja nie przebiegla wedlug planu. Ze wzgledu na godzine rozpoczecia inwazji, obchody Anzac Day takze rozpoczynaja sie przed switem 25 kwietnia. Niestety, rowniez w tym roku Anzac Day byl bardzo deszczowy, wiec zamiast grzecznie stawic sie z aparatem na uroczystosciach i marszu pozwolilam sobie posilic sie zdjeciami znalezionymi w internecie.

Anzac biscuits, czyli slynne owsiano-kokosowe ciastka z domieszka golden syropu. Podczas I Wojny Swiatowej pieczone byly przez australijskie matki i zony dla ich chlopcow walczacych w Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC). Skladniki zostaly dobrane tak, by herbatniki znosily daleki transport. Ciastka sa pyszne! Chrupiace w dniu pieczenia, staja sie bardziej miekkie po kilku dniach przechowywania.

Felt "inspired" to do so after my nephew voiced his complaint that he wanted to see some new photos of his auntie on the blog and there was just a single one (that's what my mum told me ;-)) As in November I celebrated my birthday, Tomi will have quite a few photos of his auntie, and I will remember to upload some pics of myself to keep the young man happy ;-)

What else? Another Easter with a traditional Polish breakfast :-) There was Polish mayonnaise, horseradish, vegetable salad, leek salad, white sausages, pickled cucumbers, ham, eggs and home made tartar sauce :-) And with Smigus Dyngus (a Polish tradition held on Easter Monday when boys throw water over girls). I shared the information about this Polish tradition last year and this year it took its toll on me ;-) We also went to Wollongong (driving along Grand Pacific Drive) and to see The Kiama Blowhole (the blowhole, under certain sea conditions can spray water up to 25 metres in the air).

Interesting facts:

25 April - Anzac Day - a national day of remembrance that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations". Originally 25 April every year was to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli (Turkey) during World War I. Anzac Day traditionally begins with the Dawn service at the Memorial, as a reminder of the dawn landing on Gallipoli in 1915. Unfortunately, this year's Anzac Day was rainy again so instead of taking my camera and taking a few snaps of the ceremony and the parade that takes place afterwards, I looked for some pics online.

Anzac biscuits - sweet biscuits popular in Australia and New Zealand made using rolled oats, desiccated coconut and golden syrup as the main ingredients. It has been claimed that the biscuits were sent by wives and mother to soldiers abroad because the ingredients do not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during naval transportation. They are delicious! Crunchy when freshly baked, getting a bit softer after a few days.

Marzec byl raczej spokojny, tak wiec zdjecia z weekendu w Lake Macquarie oraz z leniwego niedzielnego popoludnia spedzonego nad oceanem obserwujac ladujace i startujace samoloty :-) Tak, wiem, podobno to nic takiego eksytujacego dla niektorych, ale ja tak moge spedzic caly dzien :-)

Z ciekawostek: na ulicach Sydney pojawily sie kolorowe nosorozce. To czesc projektu realizowanego przez tutejsze Taronga Zoo majacego na celu pomoc tym zagrozonym zwierzetem. Nosorozce bedzie mozna kupic na aukcji dobroczynnej. Tu mozna zobaczyc je wszystkie: NOSOROZCE

March was not a busy month, so there are just a couple of photos from Lake Macquarie and a lazy Sunday afternoon spent by the ocean, watching planes land and take off. Yes, I know, but some it is not exciting at all but I can spend the whole day watching them :-)

Something interesting: a herd of colourful rhinos appeared on Sydney streets. It is part of Sydney Taronga Zoo Rhino Conservation Project. The rhinos will be available for sale at the Gala Fundraising Auction in May. Here you can see all of them: RHINOS
